Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s the Tri-City Arts Tour?  The Arts Tour seeks to unite the towns of Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Red Bank in a weekend-long arts festival (June 6-8), where tourists will be encouraged to park in one city, then take the train to the other 2 cities to sample the culture in all 3.  Each train station will serve as a welcome wagon/information booth and feature live entertainment.   Pre-programming at the Stone Pony, The Saint, Paramount/Convention Hall, Wonderbar, Twisted Tree, Mattison Park and other venues will be included on the weekend map, supplemented by special events including public mural creations, theatrical performances, street musicians, and art shows.

  • If people walk from the train station, how will they know where to go?A guide-booklet containing schedules and maps for all three cities will be created to pinpoint the spots visitors can go to find “art”.  This booklet will be available at the train station "welcome center", as well as storefronts around each town.

  • Will there be transportation for tourists once they get off the train?   The city is planning on hiring a jitney service to take people around town, should they not wish to walk.

  • Where is the money to fund this event coming from?     Good question!  The Tri-City Council is in the process of securing sponsors to fund publicity and performances for each city.

  • What sort of publicity is needed?  The council will hire a marketing company to handle all PR and Marketing.  Individual businesses and groups are encouraged to market this event as part of their normal mailing list as well!

  • Will permits be required for performers on the streets?     No

  • Will they be allowed to accept tips or sell merchandise?     YES, however, sales tax must be charged for any merchandise sold.  This can be accomplished through individual applications for a tax number, OR, parterning with a nearby store who could sell your merchandise under their account.

  • Will there be dedicated spots and times for performers or free space/free time?    YES – Events Planning Committee will reach out to individual performers to schedule locations/times.  If individual performers have preferred spots, they should let the Scheduling committee know.

  • Might there be chalkboards available so an artist can write their name and/or advertise upcoming gigs?   Performers will be welcome to bring their own publicity materials.  Most likely boards cannot be supplied to individual street artists.

  • Will sound system support be required or banned or up to personal preference This will be confirmed later, but most likely 1: Street performers: electric will be supplied.   2: Set stages: speakers will be provided to hook into.

  • I have a friend who is a performer/artist.  How can I get him/her involved?  Direct them to artscap@aol.com, or one of the events scheduling committee members, and we will welcome them with open arms!
